I was studying in Jeremiah this morning and became awestruck at what the nation Israel had allowed to happen. Israel is God’s chosen nation for service to Him. Unfortunately, time and time again, they had played the harlot with the Lord. They had been living a life of harlotry by serving other gods and idols since God chose them. Jeremiah was called to SCREAM the Word of God to them that they might repent and turn back to the One True God. Instead of heeding the Word of God and obeying His voice, they went after unrighteousness and sin and committed adultery against their Lord God. This has been the historic condition of the nation Israel since its inception. As I write this post in 2014, I believe God chose America to be a light to a dark world. And whether you agree with me or not, I believe America was founded on Christian principals. (The Word of God, the Bible) I have two questions this morning. The first is directed to your mind. Where are we now as far as being a nation founded on Christian Principals? You decide for yourself! As I look at the nation Israel, I see that indeed, History Has Repeated Herself. We have replaced righteousness with unrighteousness. We have replaced God’s Word with mans will. We have replaced God’s will with mans desires. We have replaced God’s law with man’s choices. I can take this list on and on. Why have we forsaken the Lord that created us? Why are the so called Christians allowing this to happen? The same reason the nation Israel did. We have became an adulterous nation against God. No one to blame but ourselves. Lord forgive us! The second question is directed to YOUR heart and comes straight from God’s Holy Word. Jeremiah 5:30-31.
30 “An astonishing and horrible thing
Has been committed in the land:
31 The prophets prophesy falsely,
And the priests rule by their own power;
And My people love to have it so.
But what will you do in the end?
It is a horrible thing that has happened to America. History has indeed repeated itself. The preachers and people of God falsely preach and teach the Word of God and rule and live by their own power instead of yielding to the Holy Spirit. And we LOVE it… I believe one of the greatest reasons why we are, where we are, is the people of God have not lived and walked according to God’s precepts and instructions but by our own desires. We are adulterers!
But let this sink down to the marrow of your bones as it did mine this morning…
